I am a bit under the weather, but never get extremely ill (knock on wood) if I’m not traveling. I believe one of the main reasons I stay healthy is because of Rachel’s morning drink. I used to drink Bulletproof coffee with butter every morning. A few years ago after suffering from routine headaches, I gave up ALL caffeine (even chocolate).

Don’t get me wrong – I love the taste of coffee, but I have replaced the morning ritual with a drink I believe is healthier and tastes even better: lemon, fresh ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and coconut oil.

Rachel makes it every morning. The lemon is a straight shot of vitamin C to start the day. Ginger is both an anti-immunity and great for digestion. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and the pinch of black pepper activates it. Coconut oil is an anti-fungal and aligns the body beautifully to start the day.

I often practice intermittent fasting (eating all meals within an 8 hour window) – Coconut oil lines the stomach, which creates a sense of fullness to get me to my first meal around noon.

Last night, we jokingly said we should make it into drink packets to take on the go so I thought to share it with all of you in case you’re looking for a nutritional hack to charge your body up for the day.

Lastly, if you’re on the run, many places in LA have a variety of the above ingredients and will make it for you ask. However, I must admit it never tastes better than the one we have at home. It’s the little things for which I am truly blessed like Rachel’s morning drink.
