A company’s culture is a reflection of its leaders.
When my friend Jeremy Summers was the head of Universal’s radio promotion in Canada, he noticed each station – from their morning show to their playlist and everything in between – perfectly mirrored the personality of the program director.
I do my best to lead by example. I am diligent in my organization and communication. I display my work publicly so others at the company can learn from it. I commit to transparency via our slack regimen and intentions.
With that being said, I get to spend more time in our office when I’m in LA. And while I have achieved my News Years Resolution goal of writing to you everyday, I have not continued to wake up as early as I would like.
None of us are perfect, but we have the opportunity to be the spark for those around us. If we lead by example, others will follow in our footsteps. They will inherit both the good and bad habits we exhibit.
Knowing your energy is exponentially multiplied across your organization, what type of leader do you want to be?
If you’re looking for a place to start, you can focus on marginal gains by tracking small improvements in your life.
