The Sleep Cycle app monitors sleep and wakes you up at the most opportune time.

You set the alarm to go off within an internal (30-90 minutes) and it’s triggered when you’re in a light sleep state within that timeframe. This type of alarm enables a more natural wake up, instead of being woken up by an alarm clock in the middle of REM or deep sleep.

How it works is you put your phone on your nightstand before you go to sleep. The app monitors the sound waves from your tossing and turning in bed to measure your sleep state. It creates a semi-accurate depiction of your previous night’s sleep each morning, but the alarm functionality is the real gift.

I’ve actually found this solution even more refreshing than sleeping with my phone out of the bedroom.

After Sleep Cycle wakes me up, the first things I do in the morning are –

  1. Drink a glass of water
  2. Brush my teeth
  3. Say 3 things I’m grateful for

I learned the first two from the Miracle Morning – they are the perfect first two activities to kickstart a day!
