Growing up in the US, our classrooms had maps with North America as the center.
However, in France, students study maps where Europe is the center. The same goes for China. In fact, in the Chinese version of a world map, France is all the way at the end, almost off the map.
Perspective is everything.
Some of the best breakthroughs for our artists have come from thinking holistically by studying multiple different territories’ cultures to figure out if and how our artists can be successful there. Prioritizing international markets has been a key 3B strategy.
We live in a global music industry… You never know where an artist may get their break. Therefore, we need to view a globe, where at any given time any country can be the focus without the distortion of a flattened map which only has one center.
P.S. For some reason, some of you got yesterday’s email twice. I’m not sure why that was, but it shouldn’t happen again. Also, in case you were unable to get the password to work on the video, it is because I typed it wrong – it is “jq” not “JQ”.
