With the continued growth of music touring, there is clearly an increasing desire for people to consume live entertainment together. These events are both a break from the digital world and an opportunity to showcase our real lives for it.
As festivals of all types have launched across the country, I thought more forms of diverse entertainment offerings would garner more mainstream appeal alongside them, similar to Sleep No More, Absinthe, the Museum of Ice Cream or something entirely different.
Last night, I got to witness one of these types of events. Matte Projects is one of my favorite creative production companies. They joined forces with an illegal New York fighting ring and got it sanctioned. Despite now being legal and featuring UFC trained fighters, there is still an element of rebellion to it.
Last night, they threw their second FIGHT NIGHT at Capitale (an old bank building) in New York City. It was a GA event with some bottle service consisting of several fights with a couple performances in between, including our very own Thutmose.
They’re going to be bringing the event to LA in November and I look forward to attending it again. If you’re interested, you can check out the teaser they made for the NY edition here.
