The difference in energy from a typical Grammy Week in LA to the feeling in New York right now is palpable. It reflects the emerging industry we currently find ourselves in.
With the resurgence of hip-hop, the tremendous rise and ubiquity of music accessibility through streaming, and the generation changing tides at the C-suite level of the major labels, a new era has been born and the evolution is taking place faster than ever.
The ease of access to the industry makes it easier to enter and harder than ever to get known. To rise above an act must have “the sauce” alongside a unique combination of marketing and promotion which are in full effect this week.
New York is my favorite city in the world. The day the Grammys officially announced it would be here, we attended the Grammy sponsors dinner Gallant performed at. Even then, you could tell it was going to be special to have the Grammys back in the city.
Amidst the madness, let’s take a moment to breathe and be grateful for where our industry is at and the plethora of opportunity ahead of us.
