Yesterday, TH3RD BRAIN artists graced the #1 and #2 slots on the Hype Machine charts. With the increased focus on streaming, HypeM is a fraction as powerful as it once was. While the audience of blogs has been on the decline for a couple years, their collective voice still holds weight in certain communities and can be impactful in the beginning phase of an artist’s career.
SubmitHub is a pretty cool way of putting your music on blogs’ radars inexpensively. You upload your song and can choose to send it to as many blogs you deem relevant for $1-2 each. There are hundreds on the site, as well as independent playlists and YouTube channels too.
We’ve been blessed to work with some great publicists at 3B and still have found SubmitHub to be a no-brainer tool for putting our acts on young writers’ radars.
The founder of SubmitHub, Jason Grishkoff of Indie Shuffle, wrote a great post about the positives and negatives of using SubmitHub for both the users and the bloggers themselves. One of the best stats he shares is that the approval rate for posting is only 6.6%. Can those few writers who choose to pick up your artist make a difference? You never know until you try.
