Yesterday, Rachel had surgery.

It’s a sullen feeling to see someone you love struggling in any form – All I wanted to do was be there for her.

Luckily, it went well and she is on her way to a speedy recovery just in time for our wedding.

Let the below message she posted to instagram serve as a reminder to all of us and those we care about the most that there is no wealth more important than health.

I’ve had quite the month… and feel like being vulnerable and sharing. Instagram is an amazing “highlight reel” yet we all know that life isn’t always rosy. It’s easy to get lost in the day to day of life going full steam ahead. As many of you know this year has been intense to say the least… between raising our fund, traveling every other week and planning a wedding which is getting very close. After just recovering from a nasty virus which had me out for a couple weeks, I woke up one day to immense pain, only to find out I have two very large (benign thank god) endemetrioma cysts within my left ovary that are causing issues and need to be removed immediately. For context our ovaries are the size of almonds and these cysts are the size of two clementines. It’s been a tumultuous couple of weeks between doctors, navigating the crazy US healthcare system, getting ultrasounds and all sorts of opinions, sharing news with my family the other side of the world and figuring everything out. I am headed for surgery this morning and would appreciate lots of good energy sent this way. My amazing mother has flown out from london, I have my fiancé by my side and am very lucky to have one of the best doctors in the country perform the surgery today.

I’m sharing it because, the thing that made me feel the best was hearing close friends or people who had been through something similar and learning this is far more common than we think. I want to put this out there in case u have a friend or loved one who just found out and asks if you know anyone who has been through it.

I’m sharing because, within our community of entrepreneurs, it’s engrained for everyone to work themselves to the bone… well guess what? Without your health you have nothing so stop for a minute and ask yourself if you are putting your health first? If not, then you should because it’s just not worth it. I live a very healthy life but have pushed myself too hard and didn’t listen to the signs. I ask that you guys reflect on that today. Also, ladies regular checks are so so important ask for the ultrasound not just a smear…
