These words are clouds infesting the English language.
I assume most of us cross the line at times. Others do so with every sentence they speak.
Great design is often judged by its simplicity. Language is no different.
It takes more time to write a point using fewer words. And when we successfully do that, our writing is more effective.
The less we use these useless words, the smarter we sound. But these words are everywhere and used by practically everyone… And unlike writing, we can’t revise after we speak.
So, if we care about our ability to communicate effectively, the only option is to pay attention as we speak and make a conscious effort to improve.
